St. Sampsons Harbour

What many people have passed without a second glance, may be Guernsey’s second largest surviving menhir. This monument could originally have been any one of the menhirs that are documented (or at least alluded to by place name) throughout the area and this has been suggested in several books so I include it here.

I do think, however, that this may have been chosen from one of the many large pieces of granite that left this slipway during the height of the Guernsey quarrying industry.
